Classes in Bible, Theology, and Philosophy (CBTP)
Explore the foundational questions of existence, morality, and the divine. Challenge yourself to learning, change, and growth. Cultivate critical thinking skills and become a principled leader. Discover yourself and become more fully and deeply human. CBTP is designed primarily for non-professional members of the A&B Society for Bible and Philosophy, and anyone curious to learning. Courses in these disciplines encourage thoughtful discussions about life’s big questions, such as the nature of good and evil, the existence of God, and the principles that guide ethical behavior. This exploration not only enriches personal understanding but also equips individuals to engage meaningfully with diverse worldviews. This study demands an engagement with complex texts and traditions, promoting skills in critical thinking and analysis. Students learn to dissect arguments, evaluate ethical implications, and synthesize information from various sources. The moral frameworks explored in these classes prepare students to become principled leaders. By grappling with the moral teachings found in ancient texts and philosophical thought, individuals develop a robust ethical foundation that informs their actions in both personal and professional spheres. This commitment to ethical leadership is invaluable in any career, particularly in fields that impact lives and communities. CBTP also offer pathways to cross-disciplinary engagement. These subjects intersect with history, literature, psychology, and social sciences, providing a holistic education that embraces the interconnectedness of human knowledge. This interdisciplinary approach enriches students' understanding of the world and fosters collaborative dialogue across various fields, enhancing innovation and empathy in problem-solving. CBTP invites students to embark on a journey of personal growth, ethical reflection, and intellectual rigor. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, these disciplines provide the necessary frameworks for understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us. Embrace the opportunity to expand your horizons and nurture your ethical compass by pursuing studies in these vital fields. By doing so, you will not only enhance your academic journey but also contribute positively to the communities and organizations you will serve. Interdisciplinary Workshops
We organise regular workshops, inviting scholars from various fields—biblical studies, philosophy, theology, and ethics—to present their research ideas and engage in discussions. These workshops encourage participants to challenge existing paradigms and explore new perspectives and interpretations of the Bible, and life in general.
-
Public Lectures and Seminars
We organise and host public lectures featuring prominent intellectuals in both fields (Bible and Philosophy), and the humanities in general, aiming to stimulate interest and engagement from the wider community. These events are designed to make complex ideas accessible to the wider audience.
-
Collaborative Research Project
The Society facilitates collaborative research initiatives that encourage intellectuals to work together on projects that address fundamental and pressing questions of life and at the intersection of the Bible and philosophy.
-
Publication Initiative
The Society establishes a blog and peer-reviewed journal: The Critical Mind (TCM): Journal of Bible and Philosophy dedicated to publishing original and innovative research that re-examines the Bible and bridges the gap between biblical studies and philosophy. This blog/journal serves as a platform for intellectuals to disseminate their thoughts, findings and engage with a broader audience.
